OM council holds special meeting
Tuesday, November 03, 2009
OSCEOLA MILLS - Osceola Mills Borough Council held a special meeting last night, which began with a 20-minute executive session for personnel.
Recently, damage was done to the garage doors by unauthorized use of equipment, and during the executive session council discussed what happened and what to do about it.
When the regular meeting reconvened, Councilman Don Bezilla made a four-part motion. First, only borough employees can operate the backhoe. Others have to be approved by the Streets, Walks, Parks and Properties Committee. Second, employees must inform another council member immediately if they are being threatened or harassed by someone, including a council member. Third, for insurance purposes, no one but committee members and employees are permitted in the garage unless authorized by a Streets/Walks Committee member. And fourth, all accidents or damage must be reported to a council member or the mayor within 24 hours.
Helen Blake seconded the motion, which passed with a roll-call vote. Council members Bezilla, Blake, Ida Reams, Tom Reams and Ed Blakely voted in favor. Council members Carol Cowher and Bill McLaughlin were not present.
The next Osceola Mills Borough Council meeting is Nov. 16 at 7 p.m.
