Burnside supervisors reject bids Friday, November 06, 2009 WESTOVER - At last night's rescheduled meeting, Burnside Township Supervisors rejected the five bids they received for the purchase of stone. The reason for rejecting was that the contract expiration date was wrong so the board said it will rebid and open them at the December meeting. Also at the meeting, according to Diana Rorabaugh, secretary/treasurer, the board signed the fire protection contract for Community Volunteer Fire Co. of Mahaffey at a cost of $821.36. Last year, the township provided winter maintenance for Harmony Area School District and approved the same costs: plowing or spreading material, $65 per hour; salt, $61.85 per ton; and anti-skid, $15 per ton. The township reserves the right to add a possible fuel surcharge if necessary. This is all pending approval by Harmony Area School Board. Information was received concerning an estimated turn back maintenance allocation of $28,360; and estimated liquid fuel funding of $95,715.77. Rorabaugh said the board did not discuss the tentative budget but will hold a special meeting Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. The next regular meeting is Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. Meetings are held in the township building.
