Clearfield Kiwanis makes plans for Halloween parade, events
Saturday, October 16, 2010
The Clearfield Kiwanis Club is making plans for the annual Clearfield Halloween parade to be held on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.
The theme for the parade is "Toy Story."
Children of all ages are welcome to participate as well as individuals, clubs and organizations.
Each participant is encouraged to dress as their favorite character from the movie "Toy Story." No pre-registration is required to participate.
Prizes will be awarded for the best costume, best use of theme and best appearing groups.
Treats will be provided by Clearfield Borough for participants 12 and younger.
The chicken barbecue prepared by Don Billotte will be available for takeout beginning at 4 p.m. at the Clearfield Driving Park. The price is $8 and includes potato salad, baked beans, roll and cookie. Tickets must be purchased in advance. They may be obtained from any Kiwanis member or by calling 765-7180.
The Clearfield Area High School marching band will participate and Tim Winters will serve as the parade announcer.
A pumpkin decorating contest will also be held. Prizes for the best decorated pumpkins will be awarded to children 6 and younger and ages 7-12.
The Clearfield Fire Co. will provide extra lighting at the parade area and participants are urged to gather at the park by 6:30 p.m.
The Kiwanis Key Club members will help in organizing the parade lineup.
A craft and flea market will be held at the Expo I Building at the Driving Park from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. the day of the parade. Vendors who wish to reserve a space should call 857-5188 after 7 p.m. for information.
The community engagement group from the Clearfield County League on Social Services will have information available on early learning inside the Expo I Building and will also have giveaways.
