Inmate dies at Rockview Wednesday, November 21, 2012 ROCKVIEW - State Correctional Institution at Rockview Superintendent Marirosa Lamas reports the death of an inmate. Stephen Giacobbe, 49, was found unresponsive in his cell at approximately 6:20 a.m. Monday. Correction staff immediately provided life-saving measures. He was taken to the institution dispensary where they were met by local emergency medical services, which transported the inmate to Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College. Giacobbe was pronounced dead by a hospital physician at Mount Nittany Medical Center. As required by policy, institutional staff and members of the Pennsylvania State Police are conducting an investigation. The official cause of death will be determined by the Centre County Coroner's Office. Giacobbe was serving a 21- to 50-year sentence from Lackawanna County for arson and recklessly endangering another person. He had been at Rockview since June 28, 2012. Facility staff has notified the inmate's next of kin.
