Father/Daughter Dance slated for Feb. 2
Friday, January 18, 2013
With Valentine's Day quickly approaching, it is time again for the annual Father/Daughter Dance. The semi-formal event provides fathers an opportunity to spend an evening with their daughters.
The dance is under the direction of Pastor Terry Smith of the Jubilee Christian Center in Hyde, and will be held Feb. 2 at the Clearfield Knights of Columbus, 520 Arnold Ave., Clearfield.
Two dance times are available in order to accommodate age differences and provide fathers the choice of which they prefer to attend. The first dance is from 5:30-7 p.m. for elementary and preschool-aged daughters, and from 8-10 p.m. for fathers with older daughters.
The dance is an opportunity for fathers and father figures to spend time with their daughters and show them how they are to be honored and treated by men in their lives. There is no age limit regarding each daughter and father, as all are welcome.
Pator Smith, one of the organizers of the event, said, "This is a long standing event in our community and we are honored and humbled as a congregation to offer our services. This dance is one of those times where a father can celebrate his relationship with his daughter, touch her heart and teach her things that words alone cannot express."
Tickets for the dance are only available in advance from Best Jewelers, Clearfield Florist and Clearfield Pharmacy. Prices are $5 per person or $15 for a family. The event tickets offer the purchaser an opportunity to take advantage of savings from community merchants. These merchants include services specific to the dance in which fathers and daughters can dine, select flowers, candy or jewelry at discounted prices during January and through the day of the dance. Photographs will be taken and given in an embossed frame at the dance for $5.
Dress for the dance is semi-formal wear. Pinnacle Productions will be in charge of the evening's entertainment. All attendees are encouraged to donate a tray of baked goods on disposable trays.
