State police at DuBois
A single-vehicle crash occurred yesterday at 8:15 a.m. on Interstate 80 about a mile east of North Continental Drive in Union Township. Robert Park of Butler was traveling west in the right lane when he fell asleep, traveled off the north side of I-80, and traveled in a western direction parallel to the road. Park's tractor-trailer scaled the adjacent embankment, came down the embankment before rolling on its roof. A liquid cargo of transmix leaked from the unit and had to be cleaned up. Park was not injured.
Sandy Township fire department, DuSan EMS, the state Department of Transportation, Eagle Hazmat and Spill Response and the state Department of Environmental Protection assisted at the scene.
