Power outages plague county
Monday, May 13, 2013
A windy day and an accident kept Penelec crews busy yesterday.
According to Penelec Area Manager John Shimko, a car struck and broke a utility pole just before noon in Morrisdale, resulting in interrupted service to eight customers. Penelec crews replaced the pole and restored power just after 5 p.m.
Around that same time a tree came down on the main electrical line near Dillon Road, below Coalport, and interrupted service to about 2,200 customers in southern Clearfield County. Crews were able to sectionalize the line and restore half of the customers in about 20 minutes. The line was then patrolled and the downed tree was discovered. The tree was removed and all but 160 customers were restored at approximately 7:20 p.m. The remaining customers were restored around 8:30 p.m.
Penelec thanks customers for their patience while it works to restore power. Also, stay away from all downed wires, as they may be energized and dangerous.
Outages can be reported by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877).
