Detour starts Monday for SR 2012 bridge replacement
Saturday, June 15, 2013
NEW MILLPORT - Work to replace a bridge on state Route 2012 (Douglas Road/Old Station Road) in Clearfield County is continuing with a detour set to begin Monday. Replacing the bridge will provide area travelers with a smoother, safer ride over a modern structure. The bridge spans Carson Run on SR 2012, in the village of New Millport.
This week, workers are constructing a temporary footbridge for pedestrians. The state Department of Transportation's official detour will then go into effect Monday and will direct drivers around the closure using SRs 729, 3022 (Ansonville Road) and 3007 (Douglas Road). PennDOT's work schedule currently calls for the closure to last through early September. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
Overall work includes the placement of a new box culvert, roadway paving, guide rail updates and drainage improvements. M & B Services of Clarion is the contractor on this $350,000 project.
Drivers are reminded to follow official detour signs, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
