Pedestrian struck, killed by vehicle
Saturday, July 13, 2013
Darian E. Davis, 43, of Kerr Addition, Clearfield, was walking along River Road in Lawrence Township Tuesday evening when he was struck by a passing vehicle and killed.
According to Lawrence Township police, Davis was walking toward Clearfield on River Road, between Deacon and High Level roads, wearing darker colored clothing. There had just been a rain storm in the area and there was no moon and no lighting.
Police said the vehicle that struck him was a small to mid-size passenger car and no charges are being filed.
Davis was first taken to Clearfield Hospital by ambulance and then flown to UPMC Altoona by Stat MedEvac Medical Helicopter, where he later died from his injuries and was pronounced dead by Blair County Deputy Coroner Gil Barton.
Lawrence Township police were assisted at the scene by Clearfield Borough police, Lawrence Township Station No. 5, Clearfield Emergency Medical Services and Stat MedEvac.
The driver of the car was not injured.
